Christmas Beef Brisket – Slow Cooker Style
Posted by Renee on September 12, 2007
When we moved to the south, we found a wonderful cut of beef- the brisket. (other than our traditional corned beef brisket) Before this, we only knew of brisket in the form of corned beef brisket. It’s become a holiday tradition for us to serve brisket on Christmas Day. This recipe is what we’ve used for the past 5-6 years and because it is a slow cooker recipe….it’s so simple. The flavor of this is sweet and savory….very tasty!
Christmas Brisket: Slow Cooker Style
1 fresh beef brisket — (3 to 3-1/2 pounds) — cut in half
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup grape jelly
1 envelope onion soup mix
1/2 teaspoon pepper
~
Place half of the brisket in a slow cooker. In a bowl, combine the ketchup, jelly, soup mix and pepper; spread half over meat. Top with the remaining meat and ketchup mixture. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until meat is tender. Slice brisket; serve with cooking juices.
